How the Program works
- You will first need to work out how many persons you are going to target or how much money you will need to raise.
- Purchase the Town Square Fundraising Package from us using a credit card. You can do this by giving us the information over the phone or mail it to us using the address on the Mail Order Form at our store front.
- Fundraising packet may be ordered in quantities of 25, 50, 100, or 1000. This will depend again, on your goal set for the campaign. If you are using a check, this will have to be cleared by the bank before shipping of Fundraising Package.
- We will provide you with our Town Square complete package. This includes price list, product brochure, collection envelope, order form as well as, a step-by-step instruction sheet.
- You will use this package to give to members of the fundraiser so that they can show and place orders with people they come across in their community, church, work and so on.
- They select the item they like and make a payment using the payment option your fundraising entity prefers.
- After a duration of two weeks participants will bring the envelopes to the organization to be tallied.
- The chairperson will then place the orders with us using our Mail Order Form on our website. * Remember, based on the order amount we will get 50% and will use this to ship the products to you.
- Products are then shipped from warehouse within 1-2 business days.
- The organization distribute products to all persons who had support the program by placing an order.
- All checks for purchases from our Town Square Program should be made payable to your fund-raising entity. You can also accept cash again, this is up to the organization

For schools:
- Students will be rewarded based on the class with the top sales. They will be given a special pizza or ice cream party.
- Students should take the Town Square brochure home and show neighbors, friends, family, and so on.
- Every sale by each student should be recorded on the 2- Part Order Form and all payment should be kept in their Order Collection Envelope. Every sale they make counts toward this prize.
- At the end of the fundraising campaign the envelopes will be collected at the school, and the total tallied by the fundraising chairperson. The prize will be given to the class with the highest sales.
- The 2- Part Order Form comes in two parts. One copy would be kept by the chairperson and the other stays with the student.

How to Get Started
First you will need to sent us an email us explaining your plan (goal). This should include the type of organization, organization address, contact person, information on how much you money plan to raise.
We will then look at your plan and send you a response via email . If you are satisfied or okay with our decision then we will set up a time to discuss the plan, answer additional questions, concerns and schedule your fundraiser over the phone. Before the Campaign
Contact us way in advance to adequately prepare for your fundraiser campaign. Our Town Square brochure are revised twice a year to take advantage of the Christmas season and Spring. For each season, contact us July/August and December/January respectively for planning. It is also important for you to mark your calendar as a reminder for the kick off day of the fundraising.
During the Campaign
It would be a good idea for the Chairperson to advertise their fundraiser in the local newspaper, community center notice board, radio station, library, local cable or television and so on.
After the Campaign
Provide us with any suggestions on how we can improve on your next campaign with us so that, we can achieve even better results next time around.
Placing Order
To place order use our Mail Order Form that is provided on our website. Fill in all the orders and all the other necessary information and send payment to us using one of the options given.
It is important to notify supporters of the pick-up date, time and location. It is therefore, wise to give them a date after the shipping estimate time. Please see our estimate delivery MAP.
Collected Funds
Store the collected funds in our Order Collection Envelope, (this will prevent loss of collections) and record each sale on the 2-Part Order Form.
Motivate Your Participants
As in any business you always have to have a leader that will lead while at the same time motivate his/her team members or employees. This is the same for any fundraiser, you will from time to time need to keep the excitement going so that, they can stay focus on their mission and achieve those goals before the deadline date planned.
In addition, offering an award or incentive to your participants (sellers), apart from our prize award (for schools only), will boost sales and thus, bring in more money. These awards can be individual, groups, Draw prizes etc. as long as they are getting something for their effort.

Additional Tips
- Parents, teachers or participating members (depending on your organization) should be told how the money earned from the Fundraising will be spent. They will respond better to the Program if they know how it will be used.
- All participants should keep an accurate record of all money collected.
- Every participants should be reminded of the deadline and should have a specific date set, when all money collected is to be turned in.
- Participants should collect money when they take the order from their supporters.
- Encourage each participants to set individual goals of how much they will sell.
- Add time (about a week) to your schedule to give supporters some time to bring the money for their orders that is, for those you have not receive payment from. Also, give yourself some time to make sure you have received and accounted for all collections before placing your orders with us.
- You must check that all products shipped to your organization against the order forms before giving out items.
- Ask your relatives and friends to sell at work to their friends.
- Make sure that the amount of money collected in each envelope correctly matches the item values ordered.
- Make one or two persons responsible for collecting all of the group’s money.
- Keep the original Order Form in a safe place. This is important since you will need this to use later in the product distribution.
- Avoid too many fundraisers. The most you should have is one or two the most for the year. Too many fundraisers will jeopardize the overall impact of product sales and the motivation level of all participants.
For Schools
- Participants should always be polite to those who give their support as well as, to those who refuse. Participants should always show that they are excited about what they are selling. This is important for all organization.
- Take candid pictures and place them in the school year book, magazine, community board and so on. Pictures should be in both group and individual. Prizes can also be given for pictures taken. You can set the criteria for such prizes. This will add more fun to the program.
Children Safety
We do not recommend that children engage in door-to-door distribution. We implore the organizers of the program to remind students of the danger and seriousness of doing otherwise. They should not enter neighboring communities, homes, or try to sell to strangers or to follow them to any location for payment. Likewise, they should not approach cars or walk in any lonely lanes. Participants (children) need to sell to people who they know well such as their parents, family, relative, friends of the family and neighbors. They can also sell to some public businesses but only under a responsible adult supervision.
Letter To The Parents
Send letters to parent explaining in details the purpose and goal of the fundraising. This will include also the types of products to be sold, the due date of the program, prize to be awarded on the program criteria, who checks should be made payable and so on. We cannot emphasize this enough- Make sure to add that Overstockretail.com Town Square Fundraising Program does not recommend that children engage in door-to-door distribution or any other methods that may endanger a child safety.
Parents should be involved and supervise their child's fundraising.
Recruit adult volunteers preferable people who are associated some way with your organization. Do this in the early planning of your fundraiser . This is an additional way of getting more participants ahead of time to increase your sale force and profit. * Be very careful of people who you recruit to do this. Try to get honest trust worthy people that you know or forget about this method.
Additional Promotional Strategies
- Promote your fundraiser by setting up a well presented *booth in your community where there is a lot of traffic. Make use of the local media to advertise your booth location and its purpose. In addition, you can use flyers, posters, bulletin boards etc.
- Let local businesses know about you fundraiser, its purpose, goal etc. and get them to offer their support by giving items for prizes or money.
- You can give businesses and individuals decals/stickers as a way of saying thank you. They can place this on their cars, store front, office door, building entrance and so on. The wordings of the decal/stickers is up to you but, an example can be like: I am a Supporter of…. / I am Proud Sponsor of …and so on.
- If your organization has a website use it to announce the program, its goals and so on. Also, use this medium to thank your sponsors. You can also mention your program in your newsletters.
*Make sure you get the proper permission to do this.
Points worth noting
- You don’t have to worry about unsold items since you will only place orders after collecting all payment. In other words, we will only ship and charge you 50% base on items sold from your fundraisers.
- The prizes that the fundraisers receive will not be deducted from your profits.
- The Town Square Brochure will allow supporters to select a product for purchase. They will then pay for the item selected which you in turn will purchase from us after, you have collected all payment by the deadline set. This brochure gives you the security of not worrying about unpaid items or unsold items - no loss of money.

- All orders will be shipped via UPS. You can track all orders after 3 or 4 days by requesting a tracking number if, one is not send to you.
- Allow up to two weeks for delivery of orders.

- Orders can be submitted by fax or mail. Payment will have to be sent through the mail if you are using a check. This will however, delay your delivery until check is cleared by the bank. Try to pay using a credit card if possible. If not, add this delay in your delivery time.

How long after placing the orders will we receive the items for the supporters?
Allow up to 14 days to receive your order. This can be less depending on your location. Please see our MAP for estimated time of delivery. It is important to notify supporters of the pick-up date, time and location. It is therefore, wise to give them a date after the shipping estimate time.
What will be the shipping cost for the program orders?
An estimate can be found on the Mail Order Form. These charges represent only a part of the actual costs. We'll pay the rest. We may however, ask you before you place your order to fax or email us a copy of the total order. We’ll then calculate your costs and contact you with order total.
Do you offer free shipping at any time on products order for this program?
Sometimes we might be able to offer free shipping when this is possible to us. We do not guarantee any organization that we will be offering them free shipping. Our retail price is very reasonable and affordable. Therefore, we might be operating at a loss, if we are not careful.
Why should I choose your Fundraising Program when there are higher percentage profit out there?
We know we are giving our customers high quality products at a very reasonable and affordable price along with a reliable shipping delivery service. Some business will give you a higher percentage to attract clients but, that usually means product quality and/or service is much less, the retail price is higher than usual and their shipping service is unreliable. Will I be charged sales tax on my order?
New York residents are subject to state sales tax unless a resale certificate is provided by your company.
Terms and Conditions:
You acknowledge and understand that whenever you use our Town Square Fundraising Program, you agree and abide to our Terms and Conditions set forth below.
- We do not accept "add-on" orders after we have received your order.
- All products will be shipped to the organization only.
- Payment will be required before any orders are shipped to the organization.
- All damage item should be reported to us no later than 5 business days after delivery so action can be taken. Failure to do so will result in your item not being replaced.
- There will be no return of items except, if it is damaged during shipping or a manufacture defect. This includes both the organization and the purchasing customer (supporters).
Damage to a product caused by modification, accident, neglect, misuse, or abuse will not be accepted by us. All products for return must be in its original package containing all original packaging material that was sent with it and must not display any markings or be otherwise defaced. If found otherwise, it will be returned to you at your own cost.
- We will not refund any money if an item is damaged during shipping or defective, non-defective as long as it can be replaced on availability of the product.
- All order should be sent by fax or Post mail, whichever is best. No order should be done through our online store.
- All orders are shipped using USP.
